Man City Edge Closer to EPL Title
While Manchester City are confidently stepping closer to claiming the English Premier League (EPL) title for this season, Arsenal are watching their carefully laid plans slip into the abyss in England.
The Citizens claimed a cheeky 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park Stadium in Liverpool on Sunday, 14 May, allowing them to move further up the EPL table with 85 points.
On the same day, Brighton Hove & Albion crushed Arsenal’s hopes at their home stadium, Emirates, in London with a similar 3-0 defeat. Gunners manager, Mikel Arteta, later apologised for his side’s poor performance during the second half.
The Gunners are currently four points behind their Manchester rivals on the EPL table.
It was a weekend of highs and lows for the English clubs, as Southampton also realised their worst-relegation fears after they lost 2-0 to Fulham at Saint Mary’s Stadium in Southampton. The club currently have a measly 24 points in the English rankings.
If Man City claim a victory over Chelsea – a club who has been infamously struggling this season – on Sunday, 21 May, at their home Etihad Stadium in Manchester, they will be officially declared the title holders for 2022-2023. Many pundits believe it’s an inevitable victory.
